Safe Medicines

The art of good prescribing has been a difficult one to master, which has resulted in many patients being prescribed inappropriate medications. The World Health Organization (WHO) estimates that more than half of all medicines are prescribed, dispensed or sold inappropriately, and that half of all patients fail to take them correctly. 

The overuse, underuse, or misuse of medicines results in the wastage of scarce resources and widespread health hazards. This fact is probably more relevant in the Ghanaian healthcare system which is trying to provide adequate health care with very limited resources. 

One of the ways to promote the use of safe medicines is to provide a guided means of prescribing to prescribers using generally accepted best practices to prescribing.

synapseRx was developed to provide guided prescribing to prescribers. It allows prescribers to have permitted access to patient medication history as well as issue out prescriptions that are properly formatted to avoid any errors at the point of dispensing the medications.
